"Quadradeuce" (quadradeuce)

I’ve made a couple of posts about our long journey to find a replacement for my wife’s aging 2008 Saab 9-7x, a car we bought for $10k with 65k miles and has run like a champ for an addition 65k miles. Since my wife’s previous car was a Fiat, she was not looking to go bigger. A sedan was ideal, but she was open to the idea of a crossover or maybe a minivan.
Long story short, after testing a variety of cars, we decided that a 2017 Buick Lacrosse was the best bang for our buck. Loads of features, plenty of room, comfortable interior, and depreciation means it is one of the cheapest options. But since most 30-something women are not exactly thrilled about driving a Buick, she wanted to make sure it was spec’d exactly how she wanted (trim level, color, features, etc).
Specifically, Blue exterior with Brandy interior
That proved harder to find than we imagined, especially close by. So for the past few months we’ve been dragging our feet trying to find this combo. Finally, my wife decided she was actually quite happy with the Saab, and doesn’t really want to spend $30k on a car if she’s not thrilled with it. Plus she saw that plaid interior on the upcoming V60.
That left the window open for me to make a suggestion that she had previously deemed “not a family car”. So, let’s see if you can figure out what we decided, based on the reaction of my 5 year old.
That was my reaction as well...and it hauls the kids juuuuust fine.

God as my witness, I thought they killed the Lacrosse 5+ years ago...
Good looking car. For a sedan :D

That Lacrosse has no right to look that good, especially with that interior.

It’s a great looking car, inside and out. Too bad they re-used the Lacrosse name. Should have been the Road Master...

Quiet, spacious, comfortable and the interior is quite nice. rode in this green one a while back-quite a unique color especially for a newer Buick. They are selling for up to $12K off MSRP at some dealers. Killer deal if you want a cushy American Cruiser.
Is yours AWD?

No you didn’t!
I know why the kid is smiling. He’s thinking he’ll inherit it.
So once you found that, I guess nothing was Holden you back.

That’s such a good green for that car. I wish more makers would use it.

You know, one of the reasons I wanted this car is that I wanted people to think it was a Malibu or something. I don’t really want to draw attention to myself. The biggest surprise is that most people realize it’s something special, even if that have no idea the SS exists. For instance, my work neighbor noticed the brake calipers and came over to check it out. He was aware of the G8, but had no idea the SS existed.

If your neighbor came over to look at it he obviously has some interest in cars. That coupled with this fact
had no idea the SS existed
Is exactly why they sold so poorly

It’s one of the best sleeper for sure. So when’s that Oppo review gonna be up? I mean, it’s the logical next step ;)

When I can do a video of the exhaust note. It’s amazing and something I don’t remember reading about in reviews.

6MT was the only choice. That was the key selling point for my wife.

The 6MT is the only version my wife would consider.

I think I’m going to keep it stock since the goal here is to not draw attention to myself. But it’s very tempting...

I already own the SS and feel like adding a 17La Crosse to replace my Mercury Grand Marquis for DD duties. I drive 120 miles a day.

The Lacrosse is an awesome car. We may still pick one up in a couple of years. Maybe the Avenir trim level will depreciate into the $20k’s. I would just remove the Lacrosse badge. Such a shame they went that route instead of a new model name.

She grew up on a farm driving manual farm trucks before most people had a learners permit. This would be her third manual car, and she prefers it over an auto any day of the week. I was worried the heavy clutch and shifter would turn her off, but she said she likes it better than light shifting economy cars because it’s more like the old farm trucks.

So I assume the trunk emblem is just held on with double sided tape? Previous owner coated it in black plastidip, and it’s peeling off.

Considering a ‘15 SS manual sedan. Are there any areas of concern as it comes to reliability? No regrets?
